Younger than dirt.

Today I had my follow-up appointment with the urologist. It was somewhat comical going into the office, and being the youngest one there. By about 30 years. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Actually it's a genetic thing. Turns out kidney stones can be hereditary. Also, I need to start drinking like a fish. As in 96oz of water a day. Gulp.

I started thinking about emergency medicine, as we were waiting in this very swanky office. It's pretty much the luck of the draw when you're faced with emergency surgery. There's no interviewing doctors, or researching specialists. Someone just shows up & says they're going to operate on you & if you're like me, you quickly reply with, 'So you've done this before, right?'. To which the doctor (hopefully) responds with, 'Why, yes. It's my job'. Right. Ok then - see you when I wake up and thanks for saving my life. Cause I'd surely die here in this bed if someone didn't get this thing out.

I'm thankful for the kind and professional and knowledgable doctors & nurses I've met throughout my 38 years. I just hope I don't have to meet any more for a long, long, LONG time.
