2011 Reads

Well week one is down & I've finished two books. Part of my hopes for '11 is less screens, more books. (Although movies don't count - I definitely want to see more movies in '11.)

For Christmas I received a couple Barnes & Noble gift cards, so I made it there this week to stock up on some goodies. I think another thing I resolved for this year - start going to the library. I paid $27 for a book I read in two days. Doesn't seem worth it.
Anyway... here we go.

1st read: Rescue by Anita Shreve. She's one of those go-to authors when you just need a good, easy read. It was fine. Nothing earth shattering. Good (but not great) story of one person saving another, and in return being saved himself.

2nd read: The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. This one I enjoyed much more. Not a particularly unique story, but told in a unique way... from the perspective of the family dog. A tale of loyalty and perseverance.

Next up: House Rules by Jodi Picoult. This one I'm looking forward to... as it involves a disorder close to my heart: Asperger's syndrome.

"But when Jacob’s small hometown is rocked by a terrible murder, law enforcement comes to him. Jacob’s behaviors are hallmark Asperger’s, but they look a lot like guilt to the local police. Suddenly the Hunt family, who only want to fit in, are directly in the spotlight."

I'll keep you posted... and if anyone is interested in a book swap - let me know!
xoxo
